What is Green House

A greenhouse is a structure with walls and roofs made chiefly of transparent material such as glass, in which plants requiring regulated climatic conditions are grown. These structures range in size from small sheds to industrial-sized buildings. A miniature greenhouse is known as a cold frame. With the advent of plastic technology, replacing glass with plastic material became possible. Polyethylene material is the most popular. The Greenhouses came to be known as Poly houses in recent times. The purpose of a greenhouse is to shield crops from excess cold or heat and unwanted pests. A greenhouse makes it possible to grow certain types of crops year-round, and fruits, tobacco plants, vegetables, and flowers are what a greenhouse most commonly grows.

Modern greenhouses are usually built on steel frames; when covered with polyethene, they are called poly houses; when covered with fibreglass-reinforced plastic, they are called plastic houses. An advanced material called Polycarbonate is being used as a transmitting material. Hence, cultivation under this structure remains protected from wind, rain, radiation, precipitation, etc. It is possible to create favourable climatic conditions to improve the quality and optimum production.
